CWEA Laboratory Committee Updates

If you would like to volunteer to participate in the ELAP Stakeholder meetings as a CWEA Lab community representative, please contact Josie Teller, the Lab Committee Chair.

After the August stakeholder meetings, the State Water Board is expected to take up the ELAP fiscal year 2023-24 fee proposal during a September 19 or 20 hearing. Topics for this meeting are not available yet.

During the June 13 ELAP stakeholder meeting, staff discussed forming another Stakeholder Workgroup for New ELAP Fee Structure right away. The primary goal of this new workgroup is to discuss options for fee structures in anticipation of additional reduction of ELAP certified labs and a decrease in ELAP revenue beyond fiscal year 2023-24.

    1. One of the options provided/suggested is adding a new fee line item based on volume.
    2. Representatives from laboratory community/organizations/associations (private and public) are encouraged to participate. If interested send an email directly to: [email protected] as soon as possible.
