Great things happening in our Monterey Bay Section….

Hello Again, this is the last quarterly report for the 2018 CWEA-MBS Year

These past few months have turned cold and thankfully brought some much needed rain.  But that hasn’t stopped the dedicated Sewer Rats from congregating!  This past October we had a great stormwater training luncheon at the South County Regional Wastewater Authority in Gilroy and an educational water/wastewater sampling technique dinner training event this past November.

Looking ahead we have the final event of the 2018 CWEA-MBS Program Year in February, giving us all plenty of time to enjoy the holidays.

On February 8th, 2019 we will have the 63rd Annual Awards Banquet at Bayonet and Black Horse in Seascape.  Look for the flyer announcement in January.

At the banquet we will announce the Annual Award Winners for our Local Section, these winners will go on to the state level competition.

There will also be the swearing-in ceremony for the 2019 Monterey Bay Section Board of Directors.

Upcoming Meetings

The next Board meeting is set for a to-be-determined day in January 2019.

Feel free to join us.  You can either attend in person or access remotely via your computer.  We utilize the Zoom Meeting platform to enable all our directors (and members) to join in from your various facilities.  If you are interested in attending in person or remotely let me know via email.

The board is rotating our monthly meetings throughout the section, if your facility is interested in hosting one of these meetings let us know!  Thank you to Monterey One Water, the City of Santa Cruz Wastewater Treatment Facility, the City of Watsonville Wastewater Treatment Facility and Pebble Beach Community Services District for generously hosting our meetings this year.
We are still updating our new website!!  Check it out at mbs.cwea.org.  It includes Board of Director contact information, meeting minutes and agendas, section by-laws, award application information, description of our section’s geography and the various facilities in our area, past and present event flyers, as well as a future plan for a local section jobs page and photos!!

We have launched a new Sponsorship Program and are actively seeking out interested vendors to assist MBS in providing the best training programs and events possible (great door prizes too).  Click here to access our sponsorship flyer and feel free to share with your facility’s vendors.  Help us help you.

Thanks,

Amanda Bird
