Union Sanitary District Selects SDI Presence LLC to Develop IT Master Plan

Resource Recovery, Technology and Innovation

IT consultancy and managed services provider (MSP) SDI Presence LLC (SDI) announces that the Union Sanitary District has selected SDI to develop an IT Master Plan for the California-based water utility. The SDI project will deliver a comprehensive technology roadmap, and tools to ensure that the Plan remains in alignment with the District’s changing priorities in the future.

Union Sanitary District operates a 33 million gallon per day wastewater treatment facility in Union City and provides collection, treatment and disposal services to a total population of over 347,000 in Fremont, Newark and Union City, California. The District maintains over 800 miles of underground pipeline in its service area.

“SDI looks forward to working collaboratively with the Union Sanitary Team to strategically leverage technology to achieve the District’s overall business objectives,” said Terry Hackelman, SDI Senior Vice President. “Our SDI Team will apply our collective knowledge gained from delivering over 80 IT Master Plans to benefit the District.”

SDI’s IT Master Planning process involves both technical and non-technical stakeholders in its assessment of existing IT initiatives, systems, and infrastructure across the District, including its Electronic Document Management system. The final plan will include cost estimates and timelines for implementation of the plan and establish an IT governance framework to ensure timely IT decisions and alignment with changing business and operational needs. SDI was selected through a public procurement that considered the respondent’s past performance, capabilities, and technical approach.

The chosen IT management consultancy and client-advocate for over 150 West Coast state, county, and municipalities and special districts, the vendor-independent SDI Presence team includes former CFOs, CIOs and City leaders with long resumes of local government organizational transformation. Leveraging 20 years of corporate experience with local government business processes and their associated workflows, SDI offers significant subject matter expertise in IT assessments and strategic planning, and leading financial/ERP systems, asset management, land management, and utility billing solutions. SDI’s West Coast presence has grown with its 2017 acquisition of Sacramento-based NexLevel Information Technology, Inc., and has developed cybersecurity, IT infrastructure and IT managed services programs into its solution offering.

The SDI Team recently exhibited at the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) 2019 Annual Conference in Palm Springs this month.
