Announcing the 2021-2022 Environmental Laboratory Technical Advisory Committee (ELTAC)

Voting Members

ELTAC provides constructive scientific advice and feedback to ELAP and the California regulatory
agencies who use laboratory data to make decisions to protect the state’s environmental and public
health. The 2021-2022 Committee has been built to ensure the necessary scientific expertise exists to
address current and emerging environmental monitoring and laboratory accreditation issues.

CWEA members on ELTAC include:

  • Josie Tellers, Municipal Laboratories, City of Davis
  • Dr. Ramzi Mahmood, California State Sacramento, Office of Water Programs

What is ELTAC?

The Environmental Laboratory Technical Advisory Committee (ELTAC) is an advisory body to the
Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP). The committee is established in the
California Health and Safety Code, section 100863, which requires the State Water Board to
appoint a “multidisciplinary committee to assist, advise, and make recommendations regarding
technical, scientific, and administrative matters concerning the accreditation or certification of
environmental laboratories.”

Meetings

Meetings of ELTAC are open to the public and are noticed ten days prior to the meeting. There are at
least three meetings per year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all 2021 meeting are anticipated to be
held virtually. Actions of ELTAC are advisory to ELAP and California state regulatory agency
