CWEA 2023 Safety Days – Call for Speakers

We are pleased to announce that the CWEA Northern and Southern Safety Days will be making their return this fall.

Southern Safety Day will take place on October 26 at the Doubletree by Hilton Ontario Airport.
Northern Safety Day will take place November 8 at the Yolo County Fairgrounds in Woodland.

The CWEA Safety Committee is seeking subject matter experts to share lessons learned and best practices applicable to wastewater incidents (with case study examples) that include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • 811 Dig Alert / USA North
  • Customer Service – Verbal Judo / De-escalation
  • Active Threat – DHS / Local Law
  • Emergency Response in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • WDR SSS New Rules
  • Trenching and Excavation in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • Confined Space in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • Respiratory Protection in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • Rigging – Cranes and Hoists in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • Flagger in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • Electrical Safety in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • Flow Monitoring in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • Arc Flash Requirements in Collection Systems and WW Treatment
  • Flushable Wipes and Impacts on WW Operations
  • Safety Culture Improvement

Presentations must offer high educational value and cannot include a sales pitch.

Speakers are expected to cover their own travel expenses; however, CWEA will offer twice as many contact hours (as awarded to attendees) to the speaker for his/her 50- or 60-minute session.

Southern Safety Day call for proposals has been extended to August 28.
