The Valley Sanitary District (VSD), in conjunction with the Coachella Valley History Museum (CVHM), located in Indio, CA, developed and constructed an exhibit consisting of a series of models demonstrating various types of wastewater treatment processes. The Evolution of Wastewater Treatment in the Coachella Valley exhibit showcases the history of wastewater, from outhouses and septic tanks to current treatment processes and future projected types of advanced wastewater treatment for Indirect and Direct Potable reuse.

Purpose

The Community Engagement & Outreach Program of the Year recognizes significant achievements in promoting awareness and understanding of water quality issues. There are three categories: Small (Less than 5 MGD), Medium (Greater than or equal to 5 MGD and less than or equal to 20 MGD), Large (Greater than 20 MGD).
