Steve Cano – Wastewater Maintenance Superintendent

Steve Cano began his career in 2002 while cross training with the Sewer Department at the City of Montclair. After obtaining his CWEA certifications in Collections and Environmental, pesticide license, and backflow license he was promoted to Environmental Control Specialist, lead man of the Sewer Department.
In 2010, Steve furthered his career by accepting a lead position for Costa Mesa Sanitary District, eventually being promoted to Superintendent.

Steve became an active volunteer while at Costa Mesa by serving on the SARBS Board and CWEA Collections System Committee. Steve assists in setting up local seminars, family events, and helps out at the CWEA Annual Conferences as a moderator. Steve loves giving back to this industry by helping others getting involved.

Purpose

This committee-specific society recognizes and honors individually, both the inductees and their employers for their combined contributions which promote increased professionalism in the collection systems field. The society was formed in April 1994 with the formal inductions of all past CWEA Collection Systems Committee Chairpersons, all past recipients of the Richard D. Pomeroy Award, and other significant contributors.

Up to five (5) inductees may be inducted each year into this Society. Induction will be decided by a minimum of three (3) members of the Society.
