Michael Wilson grew up in small towns in Nova Scotia, Canada. His education includes a Highschool diploma from J.L. Ilsley and a 2 year intensive course for Marine Engineer Technicians with the Canadian Navy. Michael started his maintenance career at 18 when he joined the Canadian Navy as a Marine Engineer Technician and was posted to his birthplace Victoria, British Columbia. He deployed twice serving three tours. Michael really enjoyed his time with the military. Following the navy, Michael immigrated to the US and started working in the wastewater field. He eventually was hired on as a Mechanical Technologist with the City of Benicia’s Wastewater Treatment Plant where he worked for four years. Michael holds a Mechanical Technologist III, and an Electrical/Instrumentation Technician III certification from CWEA.

Purpose

The Electrical Instrumentation Person of the Year award recognizes significant contributions to the field and an individual’s contribution to CWEA.
