Kent Vian
Kent is the Assistant Deputy Director for the City of San Diego’s Public Utility Department’s Wastewater Collection Division (WCD). Kent leads activities of developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive and responsive, predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance program for WCD’s infrastructure.
Kent has worked over 40 years in Maintenance, Operations and Asset Management, including the US Air Force, General Dynamics/Convair Division, the City of San Diego and Clark County Water Reclamation District. Currently Kent ensures the WCD’s Vision, Mission, Goals, and Values, and legal and regulatory obligations are met, is an effective custodian and steward of assets and infrastructure, and that the desired level of service is in a cost-effective manner that maximizes value during their lifecycle.
Kent currently is a CSO Grade IV in California and Nevada, a Certified Maintenance Manager, an Associate Member of the Institute of Asset Management, Water Environment Federation, and the Association of Asset Management Professionals.
Purpose
The CWEA Quarter Century Recognition Program recognizes water professionals for their commitment to improving the quality of life and the protection of the environment. CWEA Quarter Century Recognition Program honorees have dedicated their careers in a challenging and most vital profession, the water environment field. These essential professionals who have spent countless hours improving our water environment include: Operators; Collection System, Maintenance, Laboratory, and Environmental Compliance personnel; Engineers; and Administrators.
CWEA Quarter Century honorees will be presented with a certificate recognizing their achievement and a lapel pin they can proudly wear identifying them as members of this elite group of professionals.
