Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District

First Place
 Redwood Empire Section

The Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District serves more than 135,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers in central Solano County. We own and operate a system of sanitary sewers and pumping stations, wastewater collection and treatment, water recycling and stormwater management services. Our treatment plant occupies about 150 acres and our dry weather design capacity is 23.7 MGD with a treatment capacity of 45 MGD. We own 70 miles of sewer, ranging from 12 inches to 48 inches in diameter, in a 48 square mile service area. An act of the California Legislature in 1951 created the District to perform wastewater collection and treatment, and water recycling services within the boundaries of Fairfield, Suisun City and Travis Air Force Base. In addition to sewer service, we also manage stormwater drainage systems to serve an area of 41 square miles to maintain flow of stormwater to the natural creek system and the marsh.
