 Sacramento Area Section

Located in Elk Grove, CA, the EchoWater Resource Recovery Facility provides tertiary treatment with granular media filtration for approximately 1.6 million customers and treats an average of 135 million gallons per day. The EchoWater Facility recently completed a decade-long $1.7 billion expansion making it the second largest treatment plant of its kind in the nation.

In addition to wastewater collection and treatment, the EchoWater Facility is leading efforts to recover resources and protect the environment. Resources recovery efforts include the Harvest Water Project that expands water recycling infrastructure to over 100 local agricultural farms, and the BioGeneration Project that uses biogas to produce combined heat and power by utilizing engine generators and fuel cells to produce 12 MW of electricity and process heat for its digesters.

SacSewer’s EchoWater Facility is committed to protecting public health and the environment by conveying, treating, and recovering resources from wastewater responsibly and cost effectively.
