With 35 years of experience in wastewater and storm drain system operations and maintenance, as well as line and lift station maintenance. With 27 years of supervisory experience, I have developed programs, implemented strategies, and coordinated between departments. My training in wastewater operations, workplace safety, and emergency response ensures effective management in SCADA and telemetry systems, report writing, and budget administration.

The City of Huntington Beach, known as Surf City and home to the US Open of Surfing. The sewer Maintenance Section is responsible for maintaining 360 miles of wastewater pipeline, and 27 sewer lift stations. They also maintain the city’s stormwater system comprising open channels spanning 27,853 feet (5.3 miles), stormwater lines, 1,847 catch basins, 365 half-rounds, and 32 units of specialized debris collection systems called Clarifier/CDS Unit (Storm Device). The City adheres to regulations set by the California Regional Water Quality Control Board.

Purpose

The Collection System of the Year award is given in recognition of outstanding maintenance programs, regulatory compliance and safety & training procedures.

Awards are given in three categories: Small, Medium and Large.
