The Professional Development Committee and the Students and Young Professionals Committee of the San Francisco Bay Section of the CWEA held a Supporting Women in Wastewater Workshop and networking dinner on May 9, 2019.

The event had almost 90 attendees and kicked off with dinner, followed by a panel of 6 amazing women from different career paths in our industry. The panel members included Laurie Brenner, the Finance and Acquisition Services Coach (Manager) with Union Sanitary District, JaNell Cook, the West Region Water Business Group Director and Senior VP with HDR, Teresa Herrera, the Manager at Silicon Valley Clean Water, Melanie Holmer, the Water Reuse Leader with Brown and Caldwell, Vivian Housen, Principal of V.W. Housen and Associates, and Michelle Tarantino, the Senior Plant Operator at Central Contra Costa Sanitary District.

After an engaging panel discussion, the group broke out into 6 different group discussion topics relevant to women in our industry and reported back to the group.

CWEA is looking forward to more events like this! If you are interested in future events like this, reach out to Brooke Wright ([email protected]) or Roya Joseph ([email protected]).
