In September 2024, MSWD unveiled the new Nancy Wright Regional Water Reclamation Facility. Part of a $68 million grant-funded project, the facility can process 1.5 million gallons per day and was developed to address current and emerging challenges in water quality protection. The facility is the largest project in MSWD’s history, marking a significant milestone in MSWD’s ability to safeguard water resources and move homes and businesses currently on septic tanks to the main sewer system, ensuring the community continues to have access to safe, reliable water in the future. In recognition of this significant achievement, MSWD submitted the associated communication and engagement campaign as a model of innovation, resourcefulness, and commitment to public service in groundwater quality and environmental protection.
