Megan Yoo Schneider, President – Municipal Water District of Orange County, CWEA President-Elect

CWEA’s President-Elect, Megan Yoo Schneider has been elected the 2022 President of The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC).

Director Schneider was first elected to the MWDOC Board in November 2016 and re-elected in 2020. She represents MWDOC Division 7, which serves the cities of Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Mission Viejo, San Clemente, and San Juan Capistrano.

“I am honored to serve in this role as we work to ensure a sustainable, resilient, and reliable supply of high-quality water for Orange County,” stated President Schneider. “The ongoing drought plaguing California and the Colorado River Basin highlights the importance of water use efficiency, education, and regional collaboration to manage and preserve our limited supplies for today and future generations.”

President Schneider is a registered Professional Engineer, and she is currently in a Client Account Leadership role with Accenture where she serves as a champion for utilities, energy, and natural resources industry clients from innovation strategy to industry transformation.

Since 2004, she has served in a number of leadership roles, including Committee Chair, Ad-Hoc Vice Chair, member of the Committee Leadership Council, and member of several Steering Committees, the Water Environment Federation (WEF), Past President and board member of the Santa Ana River Basin Section, and on the board of directors for CWEA. She also serves as Co-Chair of the WEF Board of Trustees Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and is a member of the American Water Works Association and voting member of the National Science Foundation Drinking Water Advisory Joint Committee.

Director Schneider invests much of her time educating others about the importance of water and has received numerous awards and accolades for her efforts.

President Schneider served as Vice President of the MWDOC Board in 2021 and chaired MWDOC’s Planning & Operations and Public Affairs & Legislative Committees.
