Wednesday morning: The Chemistry Module… Making it Work!

February 13, 2019

Understanding the whys of the TNI standard requirements is half the battle. Once you understand the whys, you can find easy ways to incorporate the standard into your already established QC program – sometimes you can even make the standard work for you. The key is to understand the intent and the added data quality and then create standard procedures and forms to be used across the board that meet the requirements and intent of the standard. The goal should not be to just add more paperwork or make your life more difficult, but rather to be working towards producing data of known and documented quality in the least complicated and most effective way.

After participating in this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe Module 4 of the TNI standard.
  • Develop procedures and tools to make this standard work in your lab.

Presenter: Valerie Slaven, Independent Consultant, Valerie Slaven Consulting Services

Valerie Slaven holds a B.S. in Chemistry from McKendree University and is an independent consultant currently working as the Laboratory Director for Analytical Services, Inc, (ASI). As Laboratory Director, she is responsible for the oversight of laboratory operations and data quality. Previously, Mrs. Slaven worked in a variety of positions at Teklab, Inc. for 11 years and her roles included being an analyst and supervising the inorganics, metals, volatiles and semi-volatiles laboratories before becoming Technical Director in February 2014.
