Veolia Environmental Compliance Inspectors were proud to support Earth Day L.A. hosted by Los Angeles Sanitation Division on April 22, 2023. This free family- friendly community festival was held at Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant in Los Angeles. Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant is the City’s oldest and largest wastewater treatment facility, operating since 1894, which continually updates processes with new, leading edge technological innovations.

Visitors enjoyed a variety of activities including music, games, giveaways, vendor booths, face painting, and a photo booth.

Our Veolia volunteers distributed educational pamphlets and handed out environmental coloring books and crayons.

The City of Burbank contracts Veolia to operate their water reclamation plant, wastewater laboratory, and environmental compliance program.

Veolia Environmental Compliance Inspector, Rod VanPelt, commented “It was great to meet new people, and Los Angeles city employees who we interact with such as inspectors and engineers, and members of the community. Everyone was so engaged.”

Alberto Flores, Veolia Illicit Storm Water Coordinator, was “Surprised at how much recognition Veolia had in the community and all of the different divisions Veolia contracts for services”.

Earth Day L.A. was a perfect public outreach event for the community.  Veolia staff enjoyed it so much that we are already making plans for next year’s celebration.
