AC26 in Sacramento was one for the books. This year’s Annual Conference & Expo brought together California’s wastewater community for four energizing days of learning, connection, celebration, and innovation. From inspiring keynotes and hands-on training to meaningful networking and statewide recognition, the Power of Community was on full display.
Hosted in Sacramento, AC26 marked our largest conference ever held in Northern California and a powerful reminder of what happens when wastewater professionals come together with purpose.
These numbers reflect more than attendance. They represent the strength, momentum, and dedication of California’s clean water profession.
This year’s Opening General Session featured keynote speaker Dan Riskin, whose presentation on collective intelligence challenged attendees to think differently about collaboration, leadership, and how we solve the complex challenges facing our industry.
His message perfectly aligned with this year’s theme, Power of Community, reminding us that our greatest progress happens when people bring their unique strengths together.
In her opening remarks, CWEA President Kathryn Gies reminded attendees that CWEA is, above all, a community. She shared that we are a community that supports one another’s professional growth by openly sharing knowledge and experience. A community that sets aside competition to solve the complex challenges we face every day. And a community that celebrates each other’s accomplishments with genuine joy and enthusiasm.
Her message captured the spirit of AC26 and the strength that comes from working together for the future of California’s wastewater profession.
AC26 featured a packed schedule of technical sessions, leadership development, facility tours, hands-on skills building workshops, and one of our most dynamic Expo experiences yet. Attendees explored emerging technologies, regulatory updates, workforce solutions, operations excellence, safety practices, and practical tools they can bring back to their agencies.
One of the most meaningful parts of AC26 was recognizing more than 100 award winners whose work continues to elevate the profession. These individuals and organizations represent the very best of wastewater leadership, service, innovation, and commitment to protecting public health and the environment.
