Twan Nguyen is a Laboratory Scientist I at the Inland Empire Utilities Agency, where he plays a critical role in water quality monitoring and regulatory compliance. With a strong background in analytical chemistry and environmental laboratory operations, Twan is known for his expertise in method troubleshooting, QA/QC review, and cross-sectional support across multiple testing stations including WET, Biology, CBP, and IC.

In addition to his core responsibilities, Twan has contributed to lab-wide improvements in method optimization, safety, and sustainability. His proactive approach has led to procedural updates, reduced hazardous waste, and improved instrument performance. Twan regularly mentors colleagues, participates in professional training, and shares insights through technical presentations—most recently through SARBS on cyanide analysis holding times.

Twan is respected for his reliability, attention to detail, and collaborative mindset, and continues to make valuable contributions that support both his agency and the broader water quality community.

The Laboratory Person of the Year award recognizes involvement in projects that advance the science of laboratory technology and an individual’s contributions to CWEA.
