Susan Hiestand

Susan Hiestand has dedicated 25 years to protecting the environment, leading pollution prevention efforts in the wastewater, hazardous waste and stormwater fields. In 2011, she joined Silicon Valley Clean Water (SVCW) and brought with her a desire to lead and educate the community about water quality, pollution prevention and sustainability. By focusing her efforts on engaging and educating the community about the environment, Susan is destined to positively influence behaviors that will help protect the environment for many generations.

In addition to her long held passion for educating the public about environmental protection and behavior change, Susan has achieved Environmental Compliance Inspector Grade 3 and has experience in the regulatory programs of water protection.

During her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family in the outdoors and practicing and teaching yoga and mindfulness.

Purpose

The CWEA Quarter Century Recognition Program recognizes water professionals for their commitment to improving the quality of life and the protection of the environment. CWEA Quarter Century Recognition Program honorees have dedicated their careers in a challenging and most vital profession, the water environment field. These essential professionals who have spent countless hours improving our water environment include: Operators; Collection System, Maintenance, Laboratory, and Environmental Compliance personnel; Engineers; and Administrators.

CWEA Quarter Century honorees will be presented with a certificate recognizing their achievement and a lapel pin they can proudly wear identifying them as members of this elite group of professionals.
