Sacramento Area Sewer District

Let’s face it: sewers aren’t sexy. And at the Sacramento Area Sewer District (SASD), we understand that the 1.2 million customers we serve throughout the Sacramento region don’t think about sewers as fondly or as frequently as we do.
Research shows that for them, it’s out of sight, out of mind.
But in California, the critical role that SASD plays in protecting public health and the environment—along with other agencies like ours—is being formally recognized through the newly established Water Professionals Appreciation Week. In late 2017, the California Legislature approved Senate Concurrent Resolution 80, which established the first full week of October as Water Professionals Appreciation Week. This annual designation highlights the critically important role that water and wastewater professionals play in ensuring the safe and reliable management of water, wastewater, and
recycled water throughout California.
