John Del Fante

John Del Fante is the Deputy Director of Utilities/Wastewater for the City of Escondido. John started working at the City’s Hale Avenue Resource Recovery Facility as a temporary Operator-In-Training in December of 1990. In July of 1992, he became a full-time Operator-In-Training. Realizing this was a good and beneficial career, John took Wastewater classes at Palomar College and received his certificate in Wastewater Treatment.

Through the years, John passed his State of California Wastewater Operator Exams I and II and was promoted to an Operator II position in 1994. In 2007, John was promoted to a Senior Operator and passed his State Operator Grade V Exam in 2008. John was promoted to the Operations Supervisor in January 2011. In April of 2017, John was promoted to Wastewater Superintendent, and then finally to Deputy Director of Utilities/Wastewater in May of 2020. Congratulations to John for 30 years of service!

Purpose

The CWEA Quarter Century Recognition Program recognizes water professionals for their commitment to improving the quality of life and the protection of the environment. CWEA Quarter Century Recognition Program honorees have dedicated their careers in a challenging and most vital profession, the water environment field. These essential professionals who have spent countless hours improving our water environment include: Operators; Collection System, Maintenance, Laboratory, and Environmental Compliance personnel; Engineers; and Administrators.

CWEA Quarter Century honorees will be presented with a certificate recognizing their achievement and a lapel pin they can proudly wear identifying them as members of this elite group of professionals.
