Gaylen Fair exemplifies the spirit and purpose of the Crystal Crucible Award through her unwavering commitment to excellence in the wastewater laboratory profession. Her leadership has directly contributed to a culture of pride, safety, collaboration, and continuous learning. Gaylen Fair has worked in the Water Resources Laboratory for 19 years, she began her career as an hourly and ascended to the position of Water Quality Superintendent all while achieving her Laboratory Analyst Grade 4, Environmental Compliance Inspector Grade 1, Water Treatment Operator Grade 2, and a Master’s in Public Administration. Her compassion for her colleagues and unyielding drive for precision, accuracy, and public health have shaped and inspired our lab. Gaylen exemplifies all six of the Cystal Crucible tenets and serves as a shining example of Laboratory Analyst excellence.

Purpose

The Laboratory committee recognizes significant participation in Wastewater Analysis, Education and Planning within a Wastewater Laboratory, along with 10 years of membership in CWEA. The nominee for this award must promote pride and safety in the workplace, teamwork, education and the promotion of professionalism in the wastewater laboratory field.
