You are invited to join your fellow CWEA Committee & Local Section Leaders, Past Presidents and Directors at CWEA's Annual Leadership Meeting in Ontario .

Agenda Highlights

  • Local Section & Committee real-life success stories

  • Leadership Stories: Lessons learned, wise advice.

  • Lunch: munch & mingle

  • Leadership Challenges: Work in teams to practice and develop your leadership skills and problem-solving abilities using real-world examples of some of the challenges local sections and committees are facing.

  • Behind the Budget: How CWEA develops the state-level program of work and budget every year.

  • Open Forum: Bring your questions, issues, concerns and needs as a leader and member of CWEA.

Buzz About CWEAs Leadership Training Meeting:

This is real-life leadership training - not training picked up by osmosis.  If you are interested in sharpening your leadership skills, you may want to sign up.  There's some CWEA "business" too, but even that will help you learn about CWEA and further improve your leadership skills.  They provide breakfast and lunch as well.

I went to it about three years ago, and felt it was well worth the time, and plan on attending again this year.  Hope to see you there!

Past President CWEA Los Angeles Basin Section

New Collection System Certification Study Guides Released Free online for CWEA Members

CWEAs Certification Preparation Task Force (CPTF) has just released the 2nd edition of the four Collection System Maintenance (CSM) Study Guides. The new study guides have been revised to reflect the new CSM certification tests being rolled-out January 2011. The study guides have expanded descriptions of the new Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) covered on the test and updated practice tests. Study guides are available free to all CWEA members as a searchable electronic PDF book.

Each year CWEAs Technical Certification Program (TCP) will be revalidating and updating tests for one of the 24 vocations tested. After TCP completes the new KSAs, the CPTF takes the new KSAs and updates the study guides for that vocation. This year, the CPTF reviewed and updated 328 pages of Collection System Maintenance Study Guide content!

The CPTF is now working on updating the CSM Moderator Guides due to be released January 2011. These guides outline the curriculum for study session instructors. If your local section is planning a study session, be sure to get a moderator guide. You can contact Director of Member and Leader Services Chris Lundeen at [email protected] or 510-382-7800 x104 for more information about getting a Moderator Guide. As the moderator guides will not be available until January, the CPTF would be happy to bring your study session instructors up to speed on any changes in the meantime. Just let Chris know and he can set-up a meeting or conference call with your instructor and members of the CPTF.

Many Thanks to the Collection System Maintenance Study Guide Update Team!
