Our Mission

The purpose of this Section is to enhance the education and technology to protect the quality of our water resources and to promote the ecological balance with the environment's other resources such as land and air.

Section Profile

The Northern San Joaquin Section (NSJS) was established in 1922 and was originally affiliated with the California Water Pollution Control Association (CWPCA). The NSJS is now affiliated with the California Water Environment Association and has a membership of over 400 water and wastewater professionals. Officially, the NSJS includes Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, Merced, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, and Tuolumne counties.

Our monthly dinner meetings provide opportunities for professional networking with our sponsors and members, to discuss statewide issues, and to attend a training seminar. The monthly newsletter contains articles of interest on current workplace health and safety, regulation updates, and an occasional spotlight article on our board members and sponsors.

The NSJS has an annual June joint section meeting with the Sacramento Area Section, and participates in an annual golf tournament. We host events each year during the summer months for members and their families.
