Many thanks to all whom participated in the ninth Annual North Coast Section CWEA Golf Tournament. The weather was perfect (OK, in typical Humboldt County fashion that means no rain but plenty of fog) and the golfers had a great time. There were six teams battling amongst each other for the coveted first place bragging rights in the Four-person Scramble at the Eureka Municipal Golf Course on August 14th. The final calibrated scores had all teams within 5 strokes of each other. This was a tight year in the standings. We had a three way tie for the Gross score (low score without the handicap) and a 2 way tie for 2nd place on the Net score (low score with the handicap). The Golf Pro was kept busy reevaluating how the tying teams did on certain holes to arrive at a tie breaker winner.

After losing many golf balls and score cards adjusted for the Peoria Handicap, the teams finished in the following order:

First Place went to “Pipe Layers”. The team representing City of

Eureka consisted of: Will Matcham, Cotie Matcham, Rick Seals, &

            Lee Perry

Second Place went to “Operations Dept.”. The team representing the

McKinleyville Community Services District consisted of Jason

Patton, Jay Patton, Christopher Jones, & Mike Freeman

First Place for Lowest Team Score without the Handicap went to
“Ontiveros & Associates”. The team consisted of: Brian Ontiveros,
Karl Prebor, David Criveli, & Robert Eicher. This team represented
             Ontiveros & Associates.

The “Most Honest Team” award (last place) went to team

“Gophers”. The team consisted of: Dan Smith, Stan Terris, Roy
Harding, & Jeff Johnson. This team represented the City of Eureka.
Prizes were also awarded for KP’s (closest to the pin) on three holes
and a longest drive prize. Those winners were Jason Patton (2 KPs),
            Will Matcham, and Mike Flockhart.

Finally, I would like to thank the Sponsors who made a donation for the tournament:

If it weren’t for their support this tournament would not have been so successful.

If possible let’s send some    business their way.

Hope to see you next year. Keep on hacking!
