Many thanks to all whom participated in the eighth Annual North Coast Section CWEA Golf Tournament. The weather was perfect (OK, in typical Humboldt County fashion that means no rain but plenty of fog) and the golfers had a great time. There were nine teams battling amongst each other for the coveted first place bragging rights in the Four-person Scramble at the Eureka Municipal Golf Course on July 11 2009. The final calibrated scores had all teams within 10 strokes of each other.

After losing many golf balls and score cards adjusted for the Peoria Handicap, the teams finished in the following order:

First Place went to “Gophers”. The team representing City of Eureka

consisted of: Dan Smith, Jeff Johnson, Roy Harding, & Stan Terris.

Second Place went to “MCSD P&R”. The team representing the

McKinleyville Community Services District Parks & Rec. Division

consisted of Jason Sehon, Paul Frazier, & Rich Solis

First Place for Lowest Team Score without the Handicap went to

“Sewer Ratts”. The team consisted of: Lou Cormier, Mickey

Hulstrom, & Mike Flockhart. This team represented: Humboldt

Community Services District & City of Fortuna.

The “Most Honest Team” award (last place) went to team

“Lilly’s Men”. The Team consisted of: Dan Lovett, Joey Bessette, Joe

Bessette, & Casey Woods.

Prizes were also awarded for KP’s (closest to the pin) on three holes

and a longest drive prize. Those winners were Brian Ontiveros, Mike

Flockhart, Joe Bessette, and Kirby Reininger.

Finally, I would like to thank the Sponsors who made a donation for the tournament.

If it weren’t for their support this tournament would not have been so successful. If possible let’s send some business their way.  Hope to see you next year. Keep on hacking!
