Junior Water Quality
Knowing the impact children and students have on the quality of our environment, CWEA supports these key programs aimed at helping students learn about the wastewater treatment process and industry:
  • Stockholm Jr. Water Prize -a prestigious youth award for water science research projects.
    California's Vijay Yanamadala was a finalist in the 2003 competition. His paper, "Reclaiming the Ecosystem: Eutrophication Control with Phosphate Binding Calcium Carbonate Filters and Accelerated Denitrification in Fresh Water Lakes" was published in the Fall 2003 issue of the Wastewater Professional.   • Sewer Science -a hands-on lab for high school students about municipal wastewater treatment.
  • CWEA's Kirt Brooks Scholarship Program -an annual scholarship program for students studying the water environment field.
