Why Certificate Holders are Required to Renew Each
The Technical Certification Program is required to generate
its own revenue to cover its operating costs. Certificate
application fees cover almost half of the costs while
renewal fees make up the rest. Your renewal fees help
to support the TCP to provide quality certification
services that are up-to-date with current practices
and technology, and that comply with state and federal
regulations and guidelines. This, in turn, ensures that
the certificate you hold remains valid and valuable.
Why Non-Members Must Pay an Additional $53 per Year
MWEA's mission is to provide educational and information
services to its members that are paid for by membership
dues and fees for service. Technical certification is
one of the services provided to MWEA members and also
to qualified individuals who are not members. Since
technical certification is a service that is available
to both members and non-members it must be self-sustaining.
In other words, the Technical Certification Program
(TCP) must cover its own costs without any help from
MWEA members. Since TCP is a program running within
MWEA some overhead costs are shared. Certificate holders
who are already members help to offset these cost through
their membership dues and certificate renewal fees.
Certificate holders who are not members are required
to pay a non-member differential above the basic certificate
renewal fee to help offset their portion of the overhead
costs. The non-member fee needs to be paid only once
each year and entitles the certificate holder to a one
year MWEA membership at his or her option.
How Certificate Renewal Fees Are Calculated
Certificate renewal fees are calculated according to
the Certificate Renewal Schedule given on the opposite
side of this sheet. If you are not a current Association
member, or your membership expires before the Certificate
Renewal Date, then you must also pay a flat $43 non-member
fee. The non-member fee needs to be paid only once a
year and covers all certificates you hold that expire
within a year of the Certificate Renewal Date. For example,
if you pay the non-member fee when renewing certificates
that expire January 2009 it will cover any certificates
you may hold that expire July 2009. Renewal notices
are mailed 2 months before certificates expire, so
you will need to pay the non-member fee again during
the January 2010 certificate renewal cycle.
If You Are Not An MWEA Member And Pay The Nonmember
Fee You May Become A Member At No Additional Cost
Payment of the Non-member Fee entitles you to an annual
Association membership at no additional cost. However,
you must indicate that you would like to become a member
by checking the box to the left of the Total Amount
Due given on the front side of this sheet.
