Once you are seated to
take the test and get past the first introductions
screens, you will be prompted to choose to take a
15 minute tutorial. Taking the tutorial will help
you get familiar with all the computer-based
functions you will encounter throughout the exam.
The 15 minute tutorial time allocation is strictly
for the tutorial only. You will have the standard
3 hours to complete the actual tests. Be sure to
read the instructions carefully. If you choose not
to take the tutorial, you will not be able to
change your mind.

Time and Progress is
one of the important aspects of test taking
that you will need to manage effectively in order
to complete the test within the time limit. Your
time and progress indicator is available on the
top right of the screen.
You will be
required to click on a Navigation buttons
in order to move forward and back through the test
screens.
You can navigate around the test just like you
would in a paper test booklet. You can go back to
questions you have already answered, and change
them.

In some cases you will need to use a Scroll Bar to read an entire test question. The functionality
is similar to how you would scroll through an
entire web page to read the contents.
Along with the
navigation buttons mentioned in the previous
slide, you can also select navigation buttons by
use of a combination of keys described under
Button Selection.
An onscreen Calculator
will be available for you during the test to
solve math equations. You may toggle between a
standard or scientific version while the
calculator is open. (Note: You are allowed to
bring your own handheld calculator only if it is
listed in the Approved
Calculator list.
When you sit for
your test, the Formulas sheet button on the
top left of the test screen will contain the
formula for that specific exam.
The Help
button is accessible throughout the test to help
you with your navigational questions.

The Flag for Review button on the top right
of the test screen allows you to bookmark a
specific test questions in order to go back to it
later before ending the exam.

During the exam, you will also be able to flag
questions you wish to submit a comment for to CWEA
by clicking on the Flag to Enter a Comment
button. Comments are submitted to CWEA. Technical
Certification staff, subject matter experts and
the program Executive Committee will review valid
comments submitted by candidates and may act if changes
need to be made to the test content.

Before ending the exam, you will have an opportunity
to go back to the items you flagged for review in
the Item Review Screen. Items you did not
answer will have an "Incomplete" and
those you flagged will indicate a solid flag.
It
is important that you read all instructions carefully. Once
you end the Item Review Screen you will not be
able to make any further changes to your answers.
Similar to the Item
Review screen, if you flagged a questions for
review, a solid flag will appear by the question.
You will no longer be able to change your answers
at this point. Your comments will be displayed on
the right of the question after you save your
comments.
Once you end your
comment review session, you will be prompted to
try some practice test questions before the actual
exam begins.
